My vision is to provide affordable and accessible piano lessons to most households. Anyone with all abilities is welcome as long as they have a genuine and sincere intention to learn music. Parents are often stressful and exhausted from maintaining a work-life balance in today's busy world. My promise to you is that piano lessons here are conducted in a professional, friendly and peaceful environment.
The purpose of this studio policy is not to restrict your freedom. Instead, it ensures that parents and students have the right mindset to start with so that the benefits of piano lessons can be maximised. In this way, all parties will have the same values and move towards the same goal in the most efficient way.
Parents and students are expected to follow this studio policy.
For parents:
Change of lesson time
Parents are required to notify the teacher at least 2 weeks in advance, preferably in writing and before school term starts. Change of lesson time during school term may only be possible subject to availability. If there are no other time slots available and the lessons cannot occur, lesson fee will not be refunded.
Payment
Flexible payment options are available. Parents can choose to:
Option 1: Pay the school term in advance
Option 2: Pay half of school term in advance
Option 3: Pay monthly installments, due by the first lesson of each month
Books and learning materials
Books can be purchased from the teacher at market price. Extra learning materials can also be purchased from the teacher or are offered for free.
Public Holiday
If lessons fall on a public holiday, parents will not be charged unless a lesson occurs on that day.
School Holiday
Parents have the option to purchase lessons individually over school holiday.
Missed Lessons
Lessons cancelled by parents are not refunded. A maximum of two make-up lessons will be provided subject to availability for each school term. Make-up lessons are not guaranteed due to limited vacancy available. Any other missed lessons will be forfeited.
Lessons cancelled by the teacher is either refunded or make-up lessons will be provided subject to availability.
Parents' responsibility
Parents are expected to ensure students complete ALL tasks assigned by the teacher between lessons.
Discontinuation of lessons
Parents are required to give the teacher a three-week notice in writing. Lesson fee will occur up to three weeks from your notice of discontinuation.
The teacher reserves the right to discontinue the lessons if any of the followings occur:
- Disrespect the teacher
- Breach the studio policy
- Dishonest behaviors
- Uncooperative attitude
- Fail to make payment on time
In such cases, lesson fee will not be refunded.
Liability
We are not responsible and liable for any accidents and injuries occurred during the lessons.
Lesson Fee
Lesson fee may be reviewed and increased annually. If a change of lesson fee occurs, parents will be notified at least 4 weeks in advance.
For students:
Recommended amount of practice
Students are recommended to practise six days a week. The duration of practice is based on their level as outlined below:
Beginners - 30 minutes
Grade 1-3 - 30 to 45 minutes
Grade 4-5 - 45 to 60 minutes
Grade 6-8 - minimum of 60 minutes
Students are required to attempt ALL tasks assigned by the teacher.
Metronome
Students are expected to practise with a metronome. Please ensure there is a metronome at home. You can either purchase one or download a free metronome app.
Student conduct
Students are expected to display the following qualities:
- Honesty
- Diligence
- Integrity
- Politeness
- Perseverance
- Respect
Learning progression
If students do not meet expected learning progression, the teacher will try to solve the problem by discussing with parents and students. The teacher reserves the right to terminate the lessons if students do not show any interest in music or learning.
Parents will receive a hard copy of this studio policy in their first lesson. By proceeding with the lessons, parents automatically agree with this studio policy.
